(More customer reviews)God this fishing pole sucks balls.Try and cast, the line breaks off and there goes your weights, hook, bait, etc.
That's IF it casts without snagging.It snags, then here comes your weights, hook and bait slapping you in the face and getting the hook lodged in your eyebrow.Fun times.

(More customer reviews)This fishing pole is sturdy.My 3yo has had it for over a month now and still loves it.She's practiced casting in the yard many many times (it comes with a little rubber-like fish for practice and play).She's also taken it with her to fish with Dad.It comes with 3 bobbers.She successfully caught fish with this pole using worm bait and had a great time.This is about the only fishing pole I could find that claims to float.We haven't tested that, but I'm confident that it does.Yes, it's Dora, but there's only one little tiny Dora and one tiny star on the whole thing.Otherwise, it is a nice deep violet color with some green and yellow.
Update:it does float!!

(More customer reviews)My wife and I bought two of these Shakespeare rods for our two boys last Christmas and finally got to try them out in the water. My sons are 2 and 4 so still very new to fishing and not at the most physically coordinated stages of life. These reels come with rubber fish that are great for practicing casting in the house or in the yard. Our 4-year-old got pretty good at casting with this technique. After repeated casting and reeling in these reels feel very durable. The rod also seems of decent quality however there are so few eyelets it's hard to store hooks when not in use and while carrying. We ended up using a hole on the reel handle. What my wife and I really love about this set is that it doesn't have any "characters" on it.
My 4-year-old caught two perch our first time out.

(More customer reviews)I bought this Reel and Rod Combo to take on a family vacation, in order to teach my 8 year-old how to fish (if we ended up anywhere near the water). I didn't have any fishing gear, and only dim (but great)memories of my dad teaching me when I was a kid.
Well, this kit has everything you need. Rod, reel, line, weights, floats, lures and hooks. I know it's not for the really-serious fishers out there, but this worked fantastic for us!My son even caught a fish!
I'd definitely recommend this to all my friends!
