(More customer reviews)My son is a fishing fanatic. this was a birthday gift for him. since i have not heard any complaints from him about this reel I have to asume it works as advertised.He would complain very loudly if there was any kind of problem or bad design(he has many times before).It shipped quickly and was delivery when promised(it has also caught a boatload of bass and snakeheads)

(More customer reviews)the shimano spirex reel is a very smooth fishing reel they make a rear drag reel that is very handy to use but if you use it in saltwater and get a fish that runs fast the drag will sieze up it did to me and the reel was not repairable that is why i have purchased two of the front drag models i am very happy with thembill

(More customer reviews)I bought this reel last fall for $100 (the 2500 model) and I have to say, it was money well-spent. The reel is really smooth on retrieves and feels like it should cost more than it does. I paired it up with a Shimano Crucial 6'8" Drop shot rod and use it for drop shotting, and some times for senkos and jigs too. I gotta say, they work great together. The only con I have is that this reel doesn't come with an extra spool. Which I would find helpful when switching from fishing drop shots to senkos/jigs and vice versa.

(More customer reviews)These reels are simply the best quality you can buy. I have tried many other brands and have always come back to Shimano because of the quality of the workmanship. I recently purchased a good(?)quality Daiwa reel because the store was out of the Shimano that I wanted to buy and I took it out fishing the next day. I hooked a small salmon and the Daiwa bound up on me while trying to retrieve the fish. I have experienced similar problems with other reels but I have never had a problem with a Shimano. I mainly fish for salmon and steelhead and I have brought in salmon anywhere from a 4 lb Pink salmon to a 40lb King and the Shimano reels have always worked flawlessly.
These reels are strong, smooth, powerful and can handle just about any fish you could hook into.
Buy this reel and you will be glad you did everytime you hook into a big powerful fish that tests the limits of your gear.
