(More customer reviews)I had always wanted a Redington rod and this fits the bill.A very nicely made rod and matching reel, at an affordable price.I fly fish sporadically during the year, and my casting abilities do not lend themselves to a $500 rod.Nice balance; and casts incredible easy.

(More customer reviews)This is a solid product, that is built to last.The only pitfall is that the cord can be restrictive at times, as it is relatively short when compared to similar products.
** Update - After a season with two of these...I have a major complaint.They came unlatched on me a couple of times.To clarify, it was the safety pin device that you mount to your pack etc. that came undone (you close the pin...and than spin a tiny washer until it snaps into place). It happened several times, so I can't chalk it up to chance.

(More customer reviews)The Lamson litespeed is a pretty okay reel overall. It looks great, it's very light, however it didn't live up to my expectations in a few departments. First of all let me say that this supposed "Hard Alox" coating is a little bit of a misnomer. It scratches off just as easily as any other coating on any other reel I've ever had and that has disappointed me greatly. I wanted a reel that would stay looking new for awhile, and this one hasn't. Second of all the reel makes an annoying squeal when I'm stripping...sounds like a fork on a plate. Can't comment much on the drag as I really haven't had a fish that can truly test it yet, but seems okay when I'm just pulling on it.
I have a $60 Okuma reel that I can't tell the much difference between the litespeed. And with the difference in price that's pretty sad. If I had the choice again, I probably wouldn't have gone for the litespeed.
UPDATE: Okay I have to give another star because the folks at Lamson are pretty helpful and understanding. They said the coating can vary from batch to batch so I'll give it another shot. Great customer service makes a great company.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this item and the service was great.The only problem is that what they show and tell about is different than what they are selling.Check the product discription, which they tell you to do.They show and tell about a Fly Reel but the product discription says it is a spare spool and that is what it is.I would order from them again, but only after double checking the product description.I feel that they sort of false advertise their products.They did accept the return and credited my account right away.Though I'm out the $5.95 shipping and another $2 something for return shipping.

(More customer reviews)After borrowing from friends I decided to buy my own rod.I didn't want to put a ton of money into it, but wanted soemthing that I could use to build my skills.This rod fits that need well.It arrived in great condition and almost ready to go.The reel is wound with backing, fly line, and leader.You will need tippet and flies.On my first day out with it I got a small brown trout on the line.I gave it four stars because I'm sure there are better set-ups available, but I doubt they are anywhere close to this price.
