(More customer reviews)Scientific Angler's SYSTEM 2 reels are the finest you can get for the money. The most important feature I look for in a reel is whether or not the DRAG isis a good, solid drag, or some fluff that does no good at holding fish. The DRAG here is Excellent.It is strong enough to stop charging Pike,but it also finely tunes so that you can release line at precisely the pressure you desire.I love these reels. I own several of them in various line weights from 6 to 10.

(More customer reviews)There are lots of fly fishing reels out there to choose from/ Some are cheap and basic, others high priced and smooth. The EastFork reel bridges these two extremes. It's reasonably priced--though not cheap, by any means--and it's incredibly smooth. Plus it's beautifully machined and designed. I can't wait to load my spare reel up with steelhead line and head for the river this fall.

(More customer reviews)The 1595 1/2 is a lovely reel, very well engineered. It will hold a DT 9 line and 100 yards of 20# backing, for those of you who aren't sure from the specs listed on Pfleuger's site. Now, you could buy a more expensive reel, but at this size, you're looking at $300 or more. If your ego needs this, by all menas, buy a bar-stock reel. If you want to fish with equipment that will not fail, get a pfleuger. The value of pfleuger is in its simplicity. You don't have to take your reel in and have it "tuned" or "cleaned" becuase the incredibly complex drag system is a little wonky. You do have to deel with loose screws, but you learn to glue these in.
